Class 11, IMMERSION 2015 event

For this assignment, I edited the posts that I already shared the same event a week ago for our last homework. My previous posts did not have much wordings but I added few information and suggestions to encourage group members to participate the event. 

Final Project: Historic Boston Reference Materials

For this assignment I researched reference materials to Boston Tea Party including the dates, maps, GIS data, and man-made/natural structures. Below are the screenshots of me researching reference materials.

Above is the general scenery of nature in Boston during Boston Tea Party showing water coming into the town and mountains on the back. According to the article, The Boston Tea Party: Then & Now, back then Boston had more free lands of hills, trees, and mountains due to less civilization and destructions

Class 10, Instagram as a collaboration tool

1. Instagram (https://instagram.com)

• Instagram is a social media where people post and share photos. Many functions provided in Facebook is not available in Instagram, but it has its own unique characteristic. Instagram is a way to post picture in a very high resolution. Instagram allows the users to also share videos. The maximum duration for Instagram videos is 15 seconds.
• Instagram is growing globally with 100 million users world-wide.
• It received best mobile app at the 2010 TechCrunch.

Class 10, Snapchat as a collaboration tool

Snapchat (https://www.snapchat.com)

• Snapchat is specifically a photo messaging application that shares photos, records videos, writes a short message and can include drawings.
• Snapchat also has a function to send small amount of money by teaming up with Sqaure Cash.
• “My Story” and “Our Story” have been added.
• developed by Stanford University students - Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown.

• Snapchat was the talk of the town recently after rejecting $3 billion buyout from Facebook.

• By sending pictures with a small text, we can send more effective messages.
• Also in a recent snapchat update, the ability to video chat live with another person was added to the software. Previously snapchat only supported sending photographs and videos up to 10 seconds long, but now with the video chat feature snapchat can become a quick conference collaboration tool. A video chat on snapchat can be opened in only a few seconds, and closed immediately, removing any signing into skype or other video chat software, and can even be quicker than facetime on iPhones because connection can happen much faster, and the other person does not have to have an iPhone.
